Youth Fitness Training Certification

Less that 50% of Youths Have Adequate Cardiorespiratory Fitness!

The actual statistic is 42% as you can read about in an article from the CDC here.  Please read the excerpt below.  It is a summary of the article's findings.

"Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), 1999–2004 and the NHANES National Youth Fitness Survey, 2012

  • In 2012, about 42% of U.S. youth aged 12–15 years had adequate levels of cardiorespiratory fitness.
  • The percentage of youth who had adequate levels of cardiorespiratory fitness did not differ by race and Hispanic origin, or by family income-to-poverty ratio.
  • The percentage of youth who had adequate levels of cardiorespiratory fitness decreased as weight status increased.
  • The percentage of youth aged 12–15 who had adequate levels of cardiorespiratory fitness decreased from 52.4% in 1999–2000 to 42.2% in 2012."

These statistics show why there is an increased need for youth fitness instructors.  Less than 50% of youths are even in adequate cardiovascular fitness levels.  Even worse yet, in the last decade - that percentage has dropped by 10%!  The income and racial demographics did not differ.  We are all in the same boat.  If you are ready to do something about the youth fitness crisis and make a difference, click the link below and learn about become a Youth Fitness Trainer.
