Teaching people techniques and skills that will help them in their day to day lives
There are many different types of fitness and exercise that you can participate in, but do these have practical applications and benefits to your daily life? In some cases, the answer is no. Fitness classes can keep you healthy, your body toned, or even prepare you for professional sports – but, are they tailored to helping you with your everyday physical challenges? A type of fitness discipline that is applicable in your daily life is called functional fitness. This type of fitness aims to help prepare your body for your daily routine, and for activities that you might undertake in your work or at home. This type of fitness can be extremely beneficial to a wide variety of potential clients. ASFA® offers a certification in this area of fitness that will allow you to add Functional Fitness to your repertoire and help you make more of a difference in your client’s lives.
During Functional Fitness classes, your clients will train their muscles, develop their core strength and improve balance and posture. This type of fitness will train many different muscle groups and joints, but more importantly, specific parts of your body that you might use in daily activities like lifting a box, and standing up our of a tub and/or sitting down in a low car seat. This might seem trivial, but you would be surprised at how many people have accidents or sustain injuries as they do not know how to lift properly or because they have poor posture. Functional fitness can be incorporated into other routines such as Bootcamp fitness, or be taught as a stand-alone program.
Taking an ASFA® certification in Functional Fitness will allow you to expand your career into this area of business. You will be able to teach this type of exercise routine to your clients, and attract a broader range of new customers including seniors. Whether you are training for sports with heavy battle ropes, or you are training for easy of life and better balance – Functional Fitness applicable to every level of fitness and every client you have!
