Senior Fitness & Balance Instruction: Stay Safe this Winter

It's no surprise that people slip and fall more in winter than any other month. With incremental weather, seniors are at particular risk.  Learning how to work with seniors and enhance balance and stability are essential for your older clients' quality of life.  Here are three quick tips to senior balance testing and enhancement:

1.)  Try a one-leg stand.  Time the one-leg stand and try to improve on it.
2.)  Try having your client walk heal-to-toe in a straight line.  It may be a sobriety test, but many seniors find this test very challenging.
3.)  Use a chair as an accessory.  They are cheap and stable and every house has them.
