3 Tips to Transition to Online Personal Training

Transitioning to online personal training has been a way for individuals to continue with their daily workouts and training programs without having to go to a gym. Some of the best workout programs can be completed from the comfort of your home at your pace and on your own timeline. Using methods such as Skype, Zoom, and Google Hangouts can help keep you connected to your fitness community and give you a healthy daily dose of motivation from your personal trainer. “Workouts of the Day” and online friendly competitions can help with motivation and accountability as you work toward your own personal fitness goals. Just because you can’t go to the gym doesn’t mean you can’t get a good workout.  Here are some tips to help you stay on track as you transition your workouts to online training:

1. Use what you have at home to make it fun. A lot of core strength and functional fitness can be worked on by doing body ball exercises. Connect online to fitness groups and trainers that use body balls or offer a body ball exercise class via Skype to feel connected with others working toward a similar goal. Working out together virtually may feel awkward at first, but you’ll love not having to fight traffic trying to get to class on time or worrying about what to wear.

2. If you want to build strength and size, check out the online groups for a bodybuilder workout. There are a lot of exercises that you can do using dumbbells or a body bar at home to increase strength, muscle tone, and definition. Connecting to a personal trainer who specializes in resistance training can also help you with diet tricks to help stay on track and stay focused while you are transitioning to a different style of workout. Other online groups and connections can help you from feeling isolated and focus on the positive events in your life.

3. Use your new online workout time to try something new like a cardio kickboxing workout. Many individuals that are new to a class or new to fitness sometimes lack the confidence to try something new in front of people. Doing your workouts online takes all of the pressure off and you can work as hard as you want or take a break between exercises if you need to without feeling like anyone is watching you. Online fitness classes can help build confidence and self-esteem as you build your own personal fitness.

The business of personal training does not happen exclusively at the gym. Many trainers have opted to train and teach remotely to give their clients access to workouts anytime they need an exercise class and also to have maximum flexibility with their own schedules. Training online using Skype, Zoom, Google Hangouts and social media outlets can give you the same quality workout as taking a class in person. Maintain your current fitness goals and stay on track using online personal training sessions and online classes.
