Keeping yourself motivated at the gym can be challenging at times. As you continue on your journey to better health and greater fitness, remember that sometimes the smallest changes can have the biggest impact.
Remember where you started and your goals. Nobody looks perfect. All bodies are earned. Many people like to write down their workouts and measurements into a journal. When you feel that you have reached a plateau, go back to see how you looked and your measurements from the beginning. It is always motivating to see how far you have come with your fitness. Let this be the catalyst for your future workouts. Here are some small changes that can make a big difference!
1.) Grab a buddy! For some adults, just simply getting out of the front door can be a huge struggle. When you are meeting a group of people, it is harder to sleep in because you know you have people counting on you for their workout today.
2.) Share your goals with friends and loved ones. When they see that you have committed to a fitness trainer, they will be able to help cheer you on and support your goals. It is hard from people to show support and compassion when they didn’t even know you had attempted to make changes.
3.) Try a new class. Sometimes just a change in routine is the best cure. There are many classes at multiple locations that you can go to. For example, there might be a bootcamp being held at your local park. Taking a new class helps to warmup our tired muscles and breaks up the tedious repetition of weight training.
As you can see, there are many different types of encouragement to help keep you motivated. Start a fitness journal that you can use to pass info back and forth. Trying something new and share your goals!
