Yoga for Sports Performance

Yoga Certification

The American Sports and Fitness Association® is proud to provide our fitness professionals with a new certification in Yoga! Many athletes strive for optimal performance and push until the near breaking-point with strength exercises.  However, agility, power and functional movement are not all about strength. They also require speed and flexibility.  The ability to move fast and turn your body quickly is essential for athletic performance.  Flexibility is required not only for performance, but for injury prevention.  Not many athletes think that Yoga and dynamic motion drills can go hand-in-hand.  But, for the fitness professional, the knowledge obtained by continuing their education with Yoga can give clients the extra edge.  Furthering your education by learning yoga poses and stretches is an ideal way to take your clients and athletes to the next level of fitness.

ASFA® makes taking your continuing education independent study courses convenient with 24/7 online access and manuals from Human Kinetics.  If you have been training an athlete that pushes as hard as they can with strength and/or speed drills, maybe it is time to introduce Yoga flexibility to enhance his/her performance. Maybe it is time to take your training to the next level by continuing your education in Yoga.
