Yoga for Sports Performance
The American Sports and Fitness Association® is proud to provide our fitness professionals with a new certification in Yoga. Many athletes strive for optimal performance and push until the near breaking-point with strength exercises. However, agility, power and functional movement are not all about strength. They also require speed and flexibility. The ability to move fast and turn your body quickly is essential for athletic performance. Flexibility is required not only for performance, but for injury prevention. Not many athletes think that Yoga and dynamic motion drills can go hand-in-hand. But, for the fitness professional, the knowledge obtained by continuing his/her education with Yoga can give clients the extra edge. Furthering your education by learning yoga poses and stretches is an ideal way to take your clients and athletes to the next level of fitness.
